How to cancel your subscription to Hulu Plus

Hulu Plus is a monthly subscription for users to gain access to television shows that typically show on cable networks. The service offers viewing privileges on various devices aside from PCs, such as tablets and mobile phones. If you’ve enjoyed this service but are weaning yourself off television (we kid!), or you are looking to cut costs in general, we have placed the cancellation steps below. 

To get started on cancelling your Hulu Plus account, you will need:

  • Email and password

Steps to Cancel

  1. You can cancel your account by logging in on the Hulu website and clicking on Account under your name, and then choosing to “edit” your subscription under “Billing Information” and clicking on the “cancel” option.
  2. Click on your user icon in the top right corner of the screen. This will take you to your account page. Personal information will be in a box on the upper left hand side of the screen. Click “Update Personal Info.”
  3. The popup screen will have multiple fields, at the bottom of those fields, in small blue letters is “Delete my Hulu account.” Click this and it will ask for your password then confirm cancellation.
  4. If you’d rather just stop receiving emails: Under your account, at the bottom left hand of the screen, under Privacy and Settings is “manage email notifications.” Click on that and it will have several boxes that you will uncheck, and then click save.

Insider Tip

If you are a paid member, you must cancel your Hulu Plus subscription before you can delete your account.

Please note

Hulu Plus can be cancelled at anytime. While there are no refunds, you can prevent future billings by cancelling your subscription and going to a free Hulu account. All free trials bill at the end of the free trial and auto renew each month. You must cancel in order to prevent further charges.

How to cancel your account with Plimus (BlueSnap)

Plimus has changed its name to BlueSnap. Market, sell and buy goods and services around the world online and on mobile. It offers multiple options for clients to process payments through their websites, so that companies can accept credit and debit cards all over the world. If your company has gone the all-cash route (imagine that!) or has no need for this service anymore, we have included the steps below to cancel BlueSnap.

To get started on cancelling your BlueSnap account, you will need:

  • User name
  • Password
  • Email address
  • Company name given
  • Website address given
  • Full name given
  • Address
  • Did you sign up as a seller an affiliate or a shopper?

Steps to Cancel

  1. If you are a customer, you will need to fill out a support form. To locate the support form follow these steps:
  2. Go to bluesnap.com and locate the three horizontal lines contained in a white square. This is your menu button. Click that button and it will open a list of options. Click support and then click on shopper support. Scroll down and you will find the Customer Support form. To complete the form you will need your order reference number, reply-to email address. Don’t forget to click the button “cancel subscription” or “refund” or any other applicable category. Then select “next. Their team will be in contact with you.
  3. You can find Merchant support in the same manner as above, except under support you’ll click Merchant support rather than shopper. Cancelling as a merchant, you will need to speak with a representative directly. To do this, have your Merchant ID ready when you call. It is likely that you will not speak directly to a representative at first. Many calls are directed to leave a voicemail and you will receive a call back.

To get started on cancelling your San Jose Mercury News account, you will need:

  • Subscriber’s full name
  • Mailing address
  • Email address (if online access)

Steps to Cancel

  1. Call 1-800-870-6397 from Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and request that your account be cancelled. Make sure to ask for a confirmation number, as some clients claim that they still receive cancelled subscriptions.
  1. You can also email your request to subscriberservices@mercurynews.com. Be sure to include the subscriber’s full name and mailing address or email address depending whether you signed up for home delivery.

Insider Tip

The easiest method is by phone. There are many ways to control and modify your subscription on their customer care website. You will need to have a username and password to access the customer care online. You can also create an account, but if you’re just going to cancel the membership it’s easier to call.

To get started on cancelling your Equifax account, you will need:

  • What type of Equifax services do you have? (identity alerts, credit watch, credit reporting, credit rating)
  • Equifax credit report reference number (Located at the top of your Equifax Credit Report)

TrapCall is a service that allows you to unblock blocked calls that try to reach you. Different features allow a user to blacklist callers who harass you, and possibly even record phone calls that are incoming. However, you may not need this service as much as you originally thought, or your need for it has gone.

How to cancel United Readers’ Service Inc.

The United Readers’ Service is a magazine service. The company, in operation since 1972, operates out of Ohio and is a provider of many different magazine titles. If your current magazine subscription (whether you ordered it yourself or received it through a gift) is through the United Readers’ Service, you will need to cancel with them – not your magazine itself. In this post, we’ll explain how to do this.

To get started on cancelling your United Readers’ Service account, you will need:

  • Full name on account
  • Full address on account
  • Account number

Steps to Cancel

  1. Call (888) 369-7323 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
  2. Speak to a representative and request to cancel. If your contract is still current, you may not be able to cancel your account. In this case, you still may be able to get out of the contract by disputing the charges with your bank.

Typically, this company will offer a discount or shorten the terms of the contract, instead of cancelling. It is usually possible to switch magazine subscriptions as well.

How to cancel your Lady of America membership

Lady of America is a gym and fitness center that is exclusively for women, and operates locations across the United States. The chain focuses on cardio and strength training, and offers childcare. You may have enjoyed your tenure at this gym greatly, but it’s time to cancel for some reason. For instructions, see below.

To get started on cancelling your Lady of America account, you will need:

  • First and last name of member
  • Your phone number
  • Member ID number
  • If sending a letter to cancel, it needs to be dated and include the above info.

Steps to Cancel

Please note: Each Lady of America handles their cancellations differently. You will need to contact your gym to confirm what is required.

Many Lady of America gym’s cancellations are handled through NationalFitness. Go to NationalFitness.com and click “member info,” then “online request.” Complete the form and include the date and request to cancel effective immediately.

You must know your 10-digit member number. (The first four digits are the location number and the last six digits are the member number.) If you do not have 10-digit member number call 800-658-7727 and give them your phone number. They will look up and give you the member number.

Most of the time, if your contract is past the yearly date, then you can give a 30-day notice of request to cancel either by fax, online form, or post. If your Lady of America gym bills through National Fitness, the contact numbers are:

If your contract is still in effect (less than a year old) then you may be eligible for a contract buyout, contact your gym location for details. If you have an injury, you may cancel your contract early by filling out a proof of disability form, located in “member info” at nationalfitness.com.

How to cancel your Crunch Fitness membership

Crunch Fitness is a gym and fitness center that started in 1989 in a basement in New York City. Now, the chain operates locations across the continental United States and a location in Puerto Rico. The theme of the gym is “No judgments,” to make all members feel comfortable. If you are moving to an area out of the Crunch Fitness reach, or if you need to cancel your membership for any other reason, see our instructions below.

To get started on cancelling your Crunch Fitness account, you will need:

  • Address of your Crunch Fitness location
  • Member number with Crunch Fitness
  • Reason for cancellation
  • Your full name on file with Crunch Fitness
  • Your address on file with Crunch Fitness (including zip code)
  • Your email on file with Crunch Fitness
  • Last 4 digits of your driver’s license
  • Date of birth for all members
  • Last 4 digits of account billed by Crunch Fitness
  • User name and password (if registered for online access)

Steps to Cancel

There are two ways of cancelling your membership with Crunch Fitness: in person, or by certified letter. If you choose to cancel in person, you must (1) complete a cancellation request form at a Crunch club location at least 30 days prior to the cancellation date; (2) pay the next scheduled monthly dues payment (3) relinquish his or her membership card; and (4) pay in full any unpaid dues or indebtedness incurred prior to the cancellation date. If you choose to send a letter, you must send a certified letter to gym address of the location the membership is under. The letter must explicitly request that your account be cancelled. In the letter, include:

  • Member number
  • Name
  • Billing address
  • Address of your Crunch Fitness location
  • Your signature
  • Three pieces of identifying information: The last 4 digits of your driver’s license; the last 4 digits of the account being billed; and your date of birth.
  • The date
  • The membership number

If your Crunch Fitness location uses the billing company ABC Financial, you will need to fax the same letter to them at 501-992-0802.

Insider Tip

For a quicker response, include your email address in the cancellation letter. Follow up with the gym location to confirm that the account has been cancelled.

Please note

If you cancel your membership before your contract ends, you will need to pay an administrative fee of $25 or more, plus another charge of $175.

To cancel a membership after your contract ends, you must (1) complete a cancellation request form at a club location at least 30 days before the cancellation date; (2) pay the next scheduled month’s dues (3) return your membership card; and (4) pay all charges that apply before the cancellation date.

  • Where/how you obtained your subscription to US Weekly (direct from US Weekly, through a third party, etc.)
  • US Weekly account number/subscription number (on magazine label)
  • Subscription expiration date (on magazine label)
  • Full name on file with US Weekly
  • Full address on file with US Weekly (including zip code)
  • Email on file with US Weekly
  • Phone number on file with US Weekly
  • Your date of birth (for account verification purposes with US Weekly)

Steps to cancel
Go to customer service web site https://secure.customersvc.com/servlet/Show?WESPAGE=am/home.jsp&MSRSMAG=US. Enter the name, address and email address of subscriber. Click next. Select Cancel your subscription. Click enter. There will be a confirmation number.

If you ordered the magazine from a third party, the US Weekly web site will provide the name and phone number of the third party. You will then need to contact the said third party to cancel the subscription. You will need to provide all subscriber information to cancel.

Comcast cable is typically a package of television channels, and sometimes comes bundled with internet for a household. If you are moving, changing your service, or getting rid of your television (imagine that!), the steps below are listed for cancelling your Comcast account.

To get started on cancelling your Comcast cable account, you will need your:

  • Comcast account number
  • Email address on file with Comcast
  • Password on file with Comcast
  • Your full name on file with Comcast
  • Your phone number on file with Comcast
  • Last four digits of the credit card number Comcast bills (for account verification with Comcast)
  • Full billing address of credit card on file with Comcast (including zip code)
  • Your date of birth (for account verification with Comcast)

Steps to cancel
To cancel your Comcast Cable account, call 800-266-2278. You will need to verify your account by providing your Comcast account number, the full name on the account, and the password set up for your account. You may also need to provide your full billing address, the last four digits of the credit card being billed, and the date of birth of the primary account holder. Request services to be terminated.

Please note

Comcast typically is a hassle-free cancellation. You may need to return equipment to your closest Comcast Cable location. There will generally be one final bill generated after the cancellation for services used prior to the cancellation date.
