Newsday is a daily newspaper founded by Alicia Patterson and Harry Guggenheim in 1940. The paper is available throughout the New York City metropolitan area, though its primary distribution areas are Nassau and Suffolk counties and the borough of Queens in New York City. As of 2014, the paper had grown to include 437k weekday subscribers, 434k Saturday subscribers, and 495k Sunday subscribers. Newsday’s offices are in Melville, NY, in Suffolk County. As of 2018, the paper is owned by CEO Patrick Dolan, the sole owner after the transfer of his father’s shares of ownership. All Newsday subscriptions include coupons sent to the subscriber as well as digital access to the Newsday.com website and Newsday app along with the paper delivery.
Newsday subscriptions are offered at a reduced introductory rate, with 7-day delivery charged $2.99 per week, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only delivery for $1.99 per week, and Sunday only for $1.00 for four weeks of papers. All subscriptions are charged a $5.00 activation fee and are billed eight weeks in advance. Eight weeks of daily delivery is $23.92, and 8 weeks of weekends only is $15.92. After the initial introductory period, the subscription will renew if not canceled at the current market rate for the subscription.
